When replacing either the Main circuit board or Main-B circuit board, be sure to perform Firmware Install.
At the time of Firmware Install of the Main circuit board, remove the TPM (CH35 SUB T) board and the optional SSD.


  1. Turn the printer ON.

    • When the Main circuit board is replaced, the printer will start up in inspection mode when the power is turned on.
      Select Inspection Menu. Check that “Inspection Menu” is shown in red, then touch the center of the touch panel.

    • When you replace the Main-B circuit board, start the printer in repair mode. Turn the power on while touching [Screen Center], and keep pressing until the mode select screen is displayed. Touch the center of the panel to start repair mode.

  2. Start the Service Program, and select Firmware Install.

  3. Check the model name on the printer.

  4. Select the target model (series) from the pull-down menu.

    • 44 inch Red ink model: SC-T7700D Series (44DR)
    • 44 inch Gray ink model: SC-P8500D Series (44DG)

  5. Press the [Download] button and proceed as per the operation screen. The firmware is downloaded to the specified folder of the PC.

    • Download destination folder: C:\EPTOOL\CH83\ServiceSupportTool\Service
    Caution / 注意

    When installing the firmware individually, be sure to download the firmware to the following folder.

    • Download destination folder: C:\EPTOOL\CH83\ServiceSupportTool\Service

    When saving to the folder above, ensure that the name is corrected to the following.

    If you save it in a different folder or with a different name, you will not be able to select the firmware you downloaded during installation.

  6. From the folder, select the firmware to install, and then press down the [Install] button.
    • 44 inch Red ink model: SC-T7700D Series (44DR)
    • 44 inch Gray ink model: SC-P8500D Series (44DG)
    Caution / 注意

    If the firmware of the wrong model (e.g., the firmware of SC-P8500D Series and SC-T7700 Series are mistaken) is installed, replace theCH83 Main Circuit Board and perform the adjustment again.

    Check Point / チェックポイント

    If firmware installation has failed, the following symptoms may occur.
    Symptom:
    [LCD display] The printer restarts in Recovery Mode when it is started.
    Display when Main Board update failure (EPSON DEVICE Recovery Mode)


    Display when Sub Board update failure (Program Update/Recovery Mode MAIN)

    [Power LED] Turns off.
    [Power switch] Enable. The power-off process begins after the switch is pressed twice. (Subsequently, even after restarting this will start in Recovery Mode. If firmware update is successfully performed, normal restart will be possible.)
    [Recovery method] Update again via a USB connection. (Network communication is not possible) (Network communication not possible)
    [Solution when the ROM version differs between Board A and Board B] After a fatal error occurs (ROM version mismatch), update the firmware from the fatal error state.  Or, update the firmware from the firmware update mode.
