Check the CIS Module Board

  • Open the front exterior of the scanner unit and remove the blue-framed circuit board exterior (held in place by a claw), check the board status.

  • Check the number on the red-framed part of the circuit board to see if it is new or old.

    • Old type: CC-36JF_A3

    • New type: CC-36JF_A5

  • If there is a mix of old and new circuit boards, replace the old ones with new ones.

  • If all the boards are the same (CC-36JF_A3 (old) or CC-36JF_A5 (new)) go to the next steps.

Check the FFC status

  • Check for any abnormalities in the FFC (thick 31-core FFC: silver shielded type) between the CIS Module Board and the Main Board (blue frame connector on the left).

  • Check for any abnormalities in the FFC (thin 16-core FFC) between the CIS Module Board and the Main Board (red frame connector on the top).

    • Possible causes:

      • Disconnected from the Main Board connector or from the CIS Module Board (AFE Board) connector

      • Not fully inserted (i.e. at an angle) to the Main Board connector or to the CIS Module Board (AFE Board) connector

      • Defective cable: broken wire in the middle of FFC or the metal part of the terminal has pilled off

  • If any abnormality is found, replace all six FFCs.

Check the FFC connector status

  • Connector in red frame : it is difficult to see if the upper side is locked

  • Connector in blue frame: pulling the left lock may damage the connector (FFC lock shape part)

  • If the connector is broken, replace the CIS Module Board.
