White or black bands

Occurrence condition
  • White or black (dark) bands occur in the horizontal direction on images.

     
    • A: Paper feed direction
    • B: Y direction
Suspected cause
  • Rear Unit installation failure
  • Paper settings of main unit or printer driver settings are inappropriate.
  • Nozzles missing
  • Adjustment values are inappropriate
  • Paper skewed

Check for the installation status of the Rear Unit.

  • Check that the Rear Unit is installed properly.

Go to step 2

  • Reinstall the Rear Unit properly.

If the symptom continues to occur, go to step 2.

Check the settings

  • Check that the paper type and size are appropriate.
  • Check that the rubbing avoidance mode is “off”.

Is the setting appropriate?

Go to step 3
  • Change the settings.

When the phenomenon is improved, explain that the phenomenon is caused due to an erroneous print setting, and get the setting corrected.


If the symptom continues to occur, go to step 3.

Check the nozzle check pattern.

  • Print nozzle check patterns and check whether there are nozzles missing or deflection.

Is the result OK?

Go to step 4
  • Carry out head cleaning in reference to the nozzle missing table below.

From the User Menu, implement Print Quality Adjustment.

  3. Select “Stripes and lines are present”.
  4. Select “Resolve print problem”.

Check whether or not skewing

  • Check that there is no paper skewing when feeding.
  • Check there is no lateral difference in banding.

<Example> Paper left side: Black banding, Paper right side: White banding
