Troubleshooting from fax function diagnosis

Perform Fax Function Check to check the basic items of fax function and line connection.

If an error is displayed in the fax function diagnosis report, take the following actions.

Repair or replacement of equipment (initial failure) was implemented due to possible hardware failure.

Not properly connected to phone line

The voltage of the LINE port was lower than the specified value when the device was on-hook.

  • Check that the telephone line jack and the LINE port of the device are correctly connected using a modular cable.
    If the modular cable claws are broken or the connection is poor or broken, replace the cable.
  • Measure the line voltage with a multimeter.
    The normal telephone line is at DC48V.
  • Connect the external telephone to the telephone line jack without any intermediary, and check if the call can be made / received / called normally.
    If the telephone line is strange, ask the telephone line company for confirmation

Modular cable connected to EXT port

The voltage of the LINE port was the specified value when the modem of the device was on-hook, but the voltage of the LINE port became less than the specified value when off-hook.
(The EXT. Port is disconnected when the modem of the device goes off-hook.)

Make sure the modular cable from the phone line jack is connected to the LINE port and the modular cable from the external phone (if connected) is connected to the EXT. Port.

If the external telephone and the telephone line were connected in reverse, reconnect correctly.

Line condition is unstable

Measure the off-hook current and it is less than the specified value

  • If a splitter is connected, connect the telephone line and the device directly for separation, and execute the fax function diagnosis again.
    If the error is resolved, request replacement of the splitter.
  • If you are connected to a TA, see if restarting the TA can help.

No dial tone detected

No dial tone detected

  • Press the [On-Hook] button, and if you hear an intermittent beep, configure the PBX.
    Set [Settings] > [Main Unit Settings] > [Fax Settings] > [Basic Settings] > [Connection Line] to [Private Branch Exchange (PBX)] and perform the diagnostic test again.
  • Press the on-hook button and hear a continuous "poo" tone, but turn off Dial Tone Detection if the volume is low.
